Art For Fun Friday and Friday Face Off

Hello Friday and hello wonderful friends. This past week I've had a bit of a scratchy throat and hot flashes are a nightmare. My head feels a bit heavy. Might be the weather. It's been grey skies for a long time. Well yesterday there was a bit of sun and I loved it. Today is very cold here and it is -14 but feels like -21.

We are supposed to have a weekend storm. I am doing my groceries Saturday morning so I can avoid the storm. I feel I need to get out and walk a bit because being stuck indoors is not my thing. Especially with hot flashes. lol Cold weather is lovely.

This past week I worked with pastels. It was amazing and very fun. I love how the pastels glide and are creamy and smooth. I want to make some animals but I am not sure what. Any ideas?

Thank you Nicole and Gillena for hosting lovely blogger parties.

I made up this character. I realize she has different shape glasses.

The view from my window. I always make one of these every season. I love rooftops and nature and houses. So much fun to draw. I hope one day we can own our own home.

I didn't manage to get a vlog together. I will try my best to do so. I've been filming little bits here and there but didn't manage to put it together. I hope you have a wonderful Friday and a lovely weekend my friends.I look forward to visiting your blog and thank you for your kind comments. It means so much to me. Thank you kindly and have a wonderful and creative day.

Maria

  2. Your pastels are really lovely. And maybe different shaped glasses will be a new trend sometime. You never know. It looks like you've been having fun. And I hope you get some walking in too. My walks have been in shopping areas which isn't quite as good but we still have so much ice. hugs-Erika

  5. First off I wish I had the equipment and know how to make videos and vlogs. You are a natural at it. I did enjoy the music too. The piece that caught my eye is the one with the lemons. Something about how you shaded the lemons and then the flower hanging over them. Then the background is a landscape. It's a brilliant composition. As for your portrait, I would never have noticed the glasses if you had not said something. Here hair is fabulous and her rosy cheeks pull the colors of her dress. She is a real girl. I like working with pastels too. I think I like the messiness of them. Anyway, I make a mess. LOL This week on SITAR I'm going to be talking about prompts and ideas for art pieces. Maybe it will answer some of your questions. I'm so happy your are apart of my art life (life in general) I hope your hot flashes end soon. Uhhhgggg I remember those. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a great weekend.

  10. It's so much fun to see the seasonal photo collages that you create during the year. I really like that portrait you did, especially because glasses can be tricky, and you illustrated them perfectly. I love pastels too, and have rendered goats, horses, and cows in the past.

  11. I love how you capture both the mood of the season and your creative energy your pastel work looks so smooth and inviting. The character with the different glasses is charming, and I can see how experimenting like that makes each piece feel playful and personal.

  12. I did the same -- shopping early -- and now hibernating inside. I like your pink background and wondering if it's new or it just hit me today. And hang in there. The flashes don't last forever. -17 when I got up. Yikes!

  14. Dear Maria,
you've created wonderful works of art, and I can well understand that working with the pastels brought you joy. If you'd like to paint animals, then why not start with your beautiful Canadian birds, which are so much more colorful than our European ones here? You could, for example, copy the cardinal from my recent post or the blue jay from the previous blog post. I think you'll definitely enjoy the shading of their plumage.
All the best and enjoy cooling off ❄️☃️, Traude
